Looking Glass Arts, Inc. has created a Dramatic Filmmaking Program for high school film and acting students that explores the technical, human and collaborative process of video filmmaking and how the right mix of leadership, teamwork, innovative thinking, and self-reliance can dynamically bring forth exceptional and well-made films.

Through a blend of independent and group activities, Filmmaking and Acting students experience in-depth, hands-on training in the complex filmmaking process.  The open, friendly and inclusive atmosphere will stretch the skills and imagination of beginner and advanced students alike, and at the same time teach students new things about themselves and others that lead to improved creativity, self-confidence, and understanding.

Filmmakers

Overview:  During the program, Film Students learn the elements of good story-telling and how to translate their stories skillfully and artistically onto film.  They explore the role of leadership in auditioning and directing cast and crew.  They film in small groups using professional cameras, lighting, and sound equipment, and finish up on computers for editing, sound design, and mastering.

Filmmaking Schedule:

July 7-11 "Pre-Production”
Introduction, learning to use professional equipment through short film creation with acting students, storyboarding and scriptwriting for films. Directing, Casting, and Auditions with acting students.
July 14-18 “Production”
Production of individual and/or group films with acting students
July 21-25 “Post-Production” - Filmmakers Only
Finishing and editing films using Final Cut Pro, and working on scoring, sound design, and mixing. If required, students will record voice-overs at a professional sound studio.

Actors and Actresses

Overview:  Acting Students will learn what good on-camera acting is all about.  What qualities make a good actor?  How can an actor reveal his/her true authentic self in everything they do? What does it take to “make it” as an actor in this highly competitive industry? What are the 10 secrets to unearthing one’s Natural Charisma?  These issues and many more will be experienced through lively discussions and lots of time in front of the camera.

Acting Schedule:

July 7-11 "Pre-Production”
Introduction, learning on-camera acting techniques through improvisation, working with film students on films, plus participating in the Casting Call and Auditions with film students.
July 14-18 “Production”
Production of individual and/or group films with film students
At the conclusion of the program, the Film and Acting Students share a formal screening of their films at a professional screening facility, including a Q&A session with the filmmakers, crew, and cast.

Join other high school students this Summer to create original, high quality films!
