The Capital Campaign to Save the Barn
The barn is the centerpiece of Looking Glass Arts. Beautiful records have been made there. Writers and composers have used the space for the grand solitude it offers during the creative process. Concerts for our neighbors and year-end parties for our town have filled it with laughter and music. This barn matters to everyone in West Fulton — and to every artist who has ever found their way here.
The barn is more than 100 years old. While we have been able to hold many remarkable events in its walls, time and weather have taken a toll. A structural assessment has confirmed what we can see with our own eyes: without urgent intervention this winter, we risk losing it entirely. We are raising funds now to stabilize and restore the barn before the 2026–2027 winter season. Your gift today keeps this irreplaceable space alive.
Stage One
Barn Restoration & Activation
Focuses on the urgent restoration of our landmark 19th-century barn in West Fulton, NY. It covers who we are, the structural urgency, our vision for the barn as a fully activated performance and recording space, and a detailed line-item budget. The target is to have the barn winterized by December 2026, with full restoration by Summer 2028. Funding goal is up to $3M, inclusive of a contingency and funds for beginning Stage 2.
Stage Two
Full Campus Buildout
Describes the longer arc toward LGA's 10th anniversary in 2032: the construction of Artist Residency Housing across Sawyer Hollow Road (up to 14 artists, a mix of on-grid and off-grid structures), site infrastructure, landscape, and the completion of our community history and interpretive elements. Total Stage 2 budget is approximately $3.5M.
