ABOUT

The Cheswatyr Residency is offered to a NYC area band, group or ensemble of 3-6 people. This residency will best benefit musicians, bands, ensembles or composers (with accompanying group) who have material ready to record. The expectation is that artists will record either an EP or full album.

​

This residency offers uninterrupted, concentrated time to record in LGA's barn studio. 

Additionally, the Cheswatyr artists-in-residence are asked to play 2 concerts at local venues for a fee of $2000 total.

RECORDING SPACE

The rustic and majestic space is engineered by Rashaan Carter. He has spent years finding the sweet spots in the barn. The barn is equipped for acoustic, amplified or electronic sessions. Because of the nature of the space, full isolation is impossible– recordings pick up the sounds of the natural world around it. We do not have a piano, yet.

September 9 - 14 2024 (5 nights, 6 days)

HOSPITALITY

This retreat includes: A private bedroom in the Farm House (with a shared bathroom), three meals a day prepared by the host, and self-directed rehearsal and recording time in the rustic barn studio. There is high speed fiber optic internet in the Farm House. The barn has no wi-fi or cell reception. 

 

HONORARIUM

The group attending will be offered a $1500 honorarium, inclusive of the fee for two concerts.
